Animalintex Hoof Shape - A wound dressing and traction plaster cut in the shape of a hoof for use on the hooves.
Why Animalintex?
Animalintex is used worldwide as a wound dressing and traction plaster. Its application options as a warm-wet, cold-wet and dry dressing make it unique, thanks to the following components:
- Boric acid as a mild antiseptic
- Traganth as a hydroscopic component
- Cotton absorbs, protects and warms
- A padding layer of absorbent cotton prevents additional injuries
- The film on the back protects against contamination from the outside and traps moisture and heat.
Why Animalintex Hoof Shape?
Animalintex Hoof Shape was developed to facilitate the preparation and application of the bandage without having to forego the high effectiveness of Animalintex. Animalintex Hoof Shape is:
- Easier to prepare, no cutting required
- Pre-cut in hoof shape, you have no waste
- The bandage is easier to apply, especially when wet
- The hoof shape means that Animalintex stays in place more easily, making bandaging easier
General preparations:
- Carefully clean any dirt from the application area
- Place the pad in a clean, flat container so that the waterproof plastic film is facing upwards
Damp-warm envelope:
- Pour boiled water cooled to 38°C around the overlay in the container.
- Once the overlay has absorbed enough water, remove it from the container and carefully squeeze out the excess water.
- Place the dressing on the affected area so that the waterproof plastic film is facing outwards (away from the skin). Press the dressing around the wound area.
- Secure the dressing with a bandage, e.g. a cohesive bandage or an elastic adhesive bandage, so that it is completely covered.
Moist cold compress:
- The general preparations are the same as for moist warm compresses, except that in this case completely cooled boiled water should be used. Pour the water into the container around the compress.
- After the poultice has absorbed enough water, gently squeeze it out to remove excess water.
- When cold, place the dressing on the affected area so that the waterproof plastic film is facing outwards (away from the skin).
- Secure with dressing so that the dressing is completely covered.
Dry wound dressing:
- Carefully clean dirt from the application area
- Place the dressing on the affected area so that the waterproof plastic film is facing outwards (away from the skin).
- Secure with dressing so that the pack is completely covered.
Precautions:
Change Animalintex dressings at least every 12 hours.
